Sunday Weekly Update #3

Image taken from Google Images
1) I know today is Monday and I was supposed to post this on Sunday, but I spent the majority of Sunday melting in a car . . . Can someone please share with me, why mother nature decide to bless the UK with a heatwave, the day I needed to move my things out of my Leicester flat! Mother Nature, this is just not acceptable!!!

2) Many of you might have noticed I'm using a graduation theme picture for this weeks post and that is because I got my grades back and I'm proud to announce I'M GRADUATING WITH A 2:1. I'm very shocked but proud of myself and the moment

3) Sunday marked the last day of the Selfridge sale, and the last day of continuous retail work for me *yaaaaaay*. My brief fling with being a retail sales assistant, just reinforced how much I hate working in retail looool and I hopefully won't have to do it again for a while

Introducing Boudior Prive . . .

I made a post a while ago about singing the praises of Glossy Box, which if you don't remember is a company that sends you 5 luxury cosmetics for £10 a month. (Mine came today but I missed the postman, now I have to go to the post office *drat!!*). Now since Glossy Box have over-exceeded their subscriptions & if you placed an order now you wouldn't receive a box til August/September.

Well, Lets meet the newest box on the Block, Boudior Prive!

Officially launching in July, Boudoir Prive is a 'private beauty club that is dedicated to helping you find your next favourite cosmetics'. Every month they send you 6 sample size products, as well as beauty recommendations and reviews. Plus If you decide that you love a product you have been sent by them, youu can buy it on their website at a membership discount price.

All in all, It's the same concept & cost of a Glossy Box (£10), however the main difference lies in the exclusivity, getting 6 beauty products as opposed to 5 and you being able to receive a box in July rather than August

Sunday Weekly Potrait #2

1) I've been soooo busy at work this week that I've barely done anything at all, which is a nuisance as I actually had things I planned do this week. *sigh* Oh well I must work with the time I have now, especially as my house is going to be full to the brim this weekend with relatives *eeiikk*

2) Since I've been working in Selfridge all week, I thought I'd take advantage of their Make up counters during my breaks *rubs palms in glee*. I headed first to the NARS counter to play with their illuminators and try out their foundation, as I've read sooooo many reviews on it but I've never had the chance to try it and . . . . me thinks I like it.

3) I also tried the YSL highlighter pen in my shade (I think it was a 6 or a 7). All I know is I NEED that pen in my life and I'm adding it to the TOP of my July wish-list.

4) I don't know if I've mentioned this yet but I'm in the process of moving all my things from Leicester back to London and redecorating my little sister's room to move into it ( as her room is bigger than my old room and she's at uni right now so doesn't need it). I've realised that I really hate manual labour and I should have paid someone to do all this moving for me . . .I mean I now have bruises, where no bruises used to be!!!

It's all about the Honey . . .

This is numuero uno of my blog reviews on the samples I've recieved from Earth's hairdressing beauty event. This sample is from the Melvita range, which is an organic UK brand that uses honey (from their hives), roses and other gentle, organic ingredients to create an animal-cruelty free beauty range that works.

Now I won't ever review a product I have not actually used, but as I've had a facial with these products and have also used these products over the weekend, I think I've got the hang of them

Cleansing Miscellar Water

Product

Cleansing Miscellar Water (RRP £20) - Now if I hadn't used this product in my facial, I really don't think I would have known exactly what to do with it, or what it was for.
Over the week, I've been using this as a toner and a replacement for my make up wipes (which I can't find due to moving) and I think it actually works quite well. It's very light and I haven't reacted to it which is an added bonus
Rose Nectar Day Cream (RRP £24)
I don't have anything amazing to say about the day-cream to be honest, after all its just a cream not a miracle in a bottle. It does what it is supposed to and has the added bonus of smelling like roses

Rose Nectar Day Cream

Packaging

I love the packaging for this line because it is so clean and simple, and does not use any hyper active colours. I think in this day and age, minimal packaging says alot about the company values and their brand, as it is not trying to overwhelm the consumer and drown us with bright energetic colours loool

Overall Rating - 3 stars

I'm combining the facial score and the sample score in this rating, and I would have given it a much higher rating but the facial left my skin too shiny, and also left a waxy residue on my face which bugged me, because everytime I rubbed my face something peeled off!!! I'm not sure exaclty which of their products did this but I'm not going to degrade their whole line because of this, as my face did feel great (waxy residue aside). I absolutely love the Cleansing water and I'm going to purchase a full size product. I don't have much to say abut the rose day cream only because I don't fancy the smell of roses and I don't suffer from dry skin so I tend not to use day creams normally and honestly speaking this product won't make me start now

Mucho Mucho Apologies

Sorry I haven't posted anything this week but I've been working full-time shifts at the Selfridge's sale and I haven't really had much time to do . . .well anything. I will work really really hard *think dwarfs in Snow White hard* to try and post something before the end of the day but until then . . .toodles  x x x

I'm trying something new . . . Sunday Weekly Potrait #1

1) I was online recently, just scrolling through my blog subscriptions (General Friday night activities - I'm blogging while my mum is at the cinema *typical*) when I came across Llymrs's blog and her Sunday Weekly Potrait and it just inspired me like  . . . POOOOW!!! I really loved the idea because it gives an insight into a blogger's life and I thought my readers would appreciate it so here it is, my first sunday weekly potrait

2) I've been back in London for almost a week now, and I honestly forgot just how hectic this place is! I've been to blogging events, birthday parties, been stared at on the tube etc lool and I just LOVE it, here's hoping I don't burn out soon

3) I took a proactive decision and decided to contact a few pr agencies and ask them to put me on their mailing lists loool It took me ages to do it because I am so scared of getting rejected loool but I got a few replys so YAAAY ME!!

4) In case you don't know there's a weekly blogging chat that happens every Sunday Night on twitter (#bbloggers) and I love just getting involved with all the other UK beauty bloggers and getting all these tips and advice. Last week, the topic was on photography tips. (Overview at MakeupSaavy) and I decided to take onboard some of these tips and created my own little photo studio with two desk lamp and an a0 printed sheet loool. It might seem a bit weird but the results are great.

A evening on the town with 'Earth' . . . .

Joy from Joytodworld.blogspot.com and I went to my first bloggers event, at Earth Salon, for a night of pampering, sushi, eyebrow threading, massages, facials and hair consultations. As Earth Salon has beauty treatments and hair stylists which caters to both European and Afro hair, it was a really great event that everyone could benefit from.

Forgot my camera, so only took one clear picture of the night
I had a skin consultation (FYI I have normal and clear skin) and a facial, and it felt absolutely fantastic!! I loved the way the Melvita products felt on my skin, and if I ever decided to employ a beauty regime that includes more that makeup removing wipes, I would definetly add a few of these products into the regime

Solange Knowles as the New Face of Rimmel

Rimmel London have cast Solange Knowles (sister of Beyonce Knowles for those out there who didn't know *shame on you*) as the new face of the UK cosmetics brand, and will be using her (gorgeous and flawless) face to showcase their upcoming Autumn campaign.
Now while I love Solange's artistry and public image, I am a little uncomfortable that Rimmel; who promote a London Beauty image with their famous London of 'Get the London Look' chose to use an African American Icon instead of an Afro-British one just sits a little bit uneasy with me. Maybe I'm being a bit too sensitive and reading too much  into it but does Rimmel think by using her image, instead of a local one they could successfully promote their cosmetics line to the British black community, despite not even having a foundation shade that is appealing to our skin-colour range???

Hmmmmm . . . .  . Well this is certainly one to ponder

Well despite this Solange looks great. To check read her interview, click here
