Recently, I have found out that two of my
all time favourite brands MAC Cosmetics and Revlon have admitted that they do
test on animals and have been removed from the PETA cruelty free list.
Assuming that they have taken this stance
as they want to break into China where it is required by law to test products
on animal, I feel a bit uneasy that first of all I had no clue that Revlon
wasn’t cruelty free and second what the hell happened to MAC’s policy of ‘Tested on Models, not Animals’???!!!!

I would really hate to boycott MAC as
living in London it literally is one of the only brands where a dark skinned
girl can easily find your skin shade so I would be really gutted to have to
give it up.
What do you guys think about MAC and their
new animal testing policy? Is it worth a boycott, should I look at it as more
as them required to do so by law or should I stop imagining little monkeys with
their eyes stretched out and little acid drops going into their bloodshot eyes
(Yes, this is literally my mental image
of what animal testing is about . . .
tad bit dramatic, but Oh well it’s the Disneyvore thinking)
I would really like to know what you guys
think so please leave a comment below

Hey there!
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a personal decision. There's no particular action that you should or shouldn't take. You have to weigh what matters most to you - buying products that aren't tested on animals or buying MAC - a product that you know you like. I hate animal testing in theory but in reality I understand why it's necessary for some products and I wouldn't not buy a product because of it. Of course I also eat meat and wear leather so...
I've got that dilemma as well.
DeleteCant stand the thought of it but love the product.
I understand why it is necessary and they have to obey a Country's regulation on certain products but I feel like it's one of those necessary evil debates
Depends on what you decide...I'm against it because it isn't necessary. China might believe it to be, but it isn't. It's as simple as that for me, personally.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, it is a minefield with companies not being transparent on their policies and chopping and changing them all the time!
wow didnt no that mac had now choose to test on animals. Alot of make up products are tested on animals i guess because they dnt want to get there ass sued by people.
ReplyDeleteI try to wear possible wear things that are from body shop, but most beauty box's and companys dont tend to not test on animals which only leaves you with a handfull of products.
I will bring this to my blogs attention you can find it here - http://allthingsemmadunn.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/make-up-tested-on-animals.html
Not sure whether you know but MAC changed their minds they won't be selling in China so therefore will not be testing on animals thankfully x
ReplyDeleteThat is so great loool been feeling so guilty about it I haven't used my MAC products for like 2 weeks x x x
DeleteWhere did you hear that? I know that Urban Decay were going to sell in China but changed their minds, but nothing about MAC. MAC are owned by Estee Lauder (along with Clinque, Bobbie Brown) and as far as I'm aware (I've been researching) all Estee Lauder brands ARE selling in China. x
DeleteUUUUUUURRRGGGHHH!!!! Why can't companies just be clear about their animal testing stance!!!!
DeleteThey won't be clear because they know people with stop buying from them. I work for one of the companies in question and have only just found this all out as they did not inform us. If i found out this is the case I will be leaving and will make sure everyone i know knows the truth and also does not buy it.
ReplyDeleteEthical values should be worth so much more than profit, and If you believe that something is wrong you should follow your heart. Do not let them get away it, we must let companies know we do not want to testing on animals, it is not necessary, a lot of the tests prove nothing as it needs to be tested on humans anyway. China is in the wrong and we should be making them change to our standards, not lowering ours to meet theirs.
The only way things change is if people stand up for they believe in, I am a make-up artist and it is going to cause me many issues, but i'd rather be true to myself and struggle with a little less make-up in my life!x
