Mary Kay Launch Botanical Range at The Botanist
Candles, Lillies in Fishbowls, Crystals and a Botanical Infused Skin Range . . . Welcome to Mary Kay's Botanical Effects.
With a breakfast menu containing ingredients like Sea kelps, Water Lily, Flaxseed, Guaca and Kanuka and the room delicately designed with refreshing elements, it was clear from the start that Mary Kay Botanical Effects Launch at The Botanist in Sloane Square, was inspired and sourced by nature, very much like the new range.
Catering to the 4 skin types within their 2 Botanic formulations; Normal to Dry and Combination to Oily, each Botanic Effect Formulation Range includes a cleanser, freshener mask and moisturiser which promises to cleanse, freshen and hydrate your skin. The Normal to Dry line is packed with Flaxseed extract and Sea Kelp while the Combination to Oily line comes with Guava and Kanuka. Besides the key ingredients that are included for each skin type, each product in the Botanical Effects range comes with a exclusice and special anti-oxidant rich complex that included Silymarin (milk thistle) and Luo Han Guo, which are both power antioxidants that help to defend environmental damage and promote healthy skin.
What is really noteworthy with this line, is that the brains behind Mary Kay Botanical Range really thought out and are very consistent with how they have applied their Botanical Effects Theme. Unlike some brands, Mary Kay run their organic and green mindset from the products ingredients to their packaging.
The packaging looks light and airy with soft pastel greens and purple, yet is made from post-consumer recycled content, their lightweight caps uses 30% less plastic than traditional caps and is also printed with Soy Ink.
A Lack of synthetic dyes, no added fragrances and packed with natural plant extract, is surely enough to convince the most sensitive and naturalist of skins to give Mary Kay's new line a try.

Review: New CID Cosmetics I-pout Lipstick in Scarlett*
*Sigh*
What is better than having a creamy red lipstick land on your lap? Easy . . . A creamy red lipstick with an inbuilt torch light!!!!
What can I say??? . . . I'm a sucker for a gimmick!!!!
New CID Cosmetics I-pout Lipstick in Scarlett is a buildable red lipstick with added Vitamin E, so it not only moisturises your lips while you wear it but it also make this scarlet shade such a comfort to wear.
On my dark skin, the orange undertones in this lipstick shade really comes to life, which really makes a change from all the darker reds or blue toned red lipsticks I have in my collection. As this is a buildable lipstick you can either wear it as a pigmented wash of colour or as a full blown scarlett vixen.
While the white and silver packaging does help this lipstick stand out in the sea of black, sleek packaging, I personally think that the colour choice is horribly impractical!
It looks great now, but I can guarantee you that just a week in my make-up bag would turn this beauty into a not-so-glamorous mixture of black, grey and brown, with the occasional bronze shimmer. Honestly though the packaging is my only criticism of this lipstick. It is quite creamy and vibrant plus the in-built torchlight has me waving this lippie around in the dark like its a light sabre.
Do you agree with me over the white packaging or am I being too fussy?? What about the torchlight, love it or hate it?
*Disclaimer:- I did not purchase this lipstick. It was either given to me to review or for my own personal enjoyment*

Tommy Guns Salon Launch at Superdry Regent Street
Ever felt like you have stepped into an alternate but still very British galaxy time warp??
No????
Then I think you need to visit Tommyguns new salon a visit.
Located on the lower floor of the dazzling new Superdry Regent Street Store, Tommy Guns salons [..] art deco.
Cream vitrolite, barber chairs and [ . . ] does scream American barber culture, however each interior finishing has come from different parts of the world and from different eras; Parisian columns to old New York fire exits to circa 1910 barber chairs. It is a bit of history pulled together and brought into the present showing just how versatile the British culture can be.
We have Britannia with Oriental Infusions in corner and British with a 1920's New-york confidence on the other.
Honestly I think these two brands make a great match and compliment each other quirks.

Review: L'oreal True Match Concealer in Cafe Coffee
I'm not normally very interested in highstreet concealers as I do not really think that highstreet brands really bother to cater to darker skin tones, so why should I bother experimenting? I am not really sure what I was thinking when I first picked up L'oreal Paris True Match le correcteur concealer in Cafe Coffee but boy, am I glad I did.
'True Match super-blendable correcting concealer helps hide imperfections, blemishes and even skintone. Glides on beautifully to give you a perfect base"
Application wise: I love this!!! It is super light and fairly creamy so I find that I can work it into my skin fairly well. The colour works very well with my skintone especially on my under eyes, which I really was not expecting, as like I said . . . I wasn't holding much faith against it.
What I really cannot STAND about this concealer is the teeny weeny product they give you in this. I'm not sure if it's me over-using this or L'oreal trying to one-up me but gimme me more dammit!!!! and another thing I am just not really feeling the applicator, I'm not a germaphobe but wands are icky! Wands are just not the most hygienic applicator out there.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this if you are looking for a highstreet concealer and do not want to spend over a tenner.
Am I too harsh on drugstore/highstreet makeup? Or do you have the same love/hate relationship with highstreet brands?

Little Shilpa collaboration with Cobra Beer at the Alchemy Fashion Catwalk
World Renown Indian Designer Little Shilpa revealed her latest millinery creation at the Alchemy Cobra Catwalk Show last Thursday night and I was lucky enough to be invited to witness her newest bespoke headpiece.
Marie Claire and ELLE Magazines 'Accessory Designer of the year' wove bailey, hops, maize and even Cobra beer bottles and presented us with a dazzling design that incorporates the core elements of Cobra Beer and contemporary Indian fashion.
When speaking to the Mumbai-born designer, it was very difficult not to share her optimism and energy about her Cobra beer collaboration. Approached by Cobra to design a statement piece as well as feature in a Cobra advert set in her home town, her excitement for this project was infectious. 'As part of my involvement with Cobra . . . I've created an unusual and unique piece . . using elements of the beer itself'
As I quizzed her on her creativity and how she comes up with the ideas for designs, Little Shilpa told me that it all starts of with the sketches 'I have to sketch out my idea first . . . I can't just start making it', It is all about building her ideas before putting it into a form.
Honestly when the finish result artistically develops a manufactured product like beer and transforms it into an organic statement piece, I am seriously considering purchasing a truck load of sketch pads for this little but exceptionally talented milliner.

Review: Sleek Eau La La Liner in Tonic 292
Sleek Makeup have blown it out of the park once again with their cheekily named Eau La La Liners.
Elegant in Black packaging, waterproof, pigmented and available in 20 shades. These liners can not only be used on your lips but all over your face,as an eyeshadow, eyeliner or cheek stain.
I have Tonic which is a dark green emerald shade to play with and let me just say this is just gorgeous!!!!
The vibrantly coloured bottom is an easy reminder of what shade you're experimenting with and the outer packaging is really easy to sharpen so no messy battles with a sharpener on the way to work. I prefer my lip liners and eye liners to be quite creamy as blending and mixing up different shades is just much easier when you have a bit of texture to work with, and this liner deliver this with an added super boost of pigmentation
Honestly at £3.99 each, Sleek's Eau La La Liners are so creamy and convenient. You really need a good excuse why you shouldn't hoard a few.
I'm thinking of getting Noir and Lingerie next. What do you think about these liners? Have you got any because I would love to see more swatches for these.

Review: Kiehl's Bath and Shower Liquid Body Cleanser in Coriander
Kiehl's is a Premium skincare retailer with a Apothecary Cosmetics Heritage that produces skincare products with unique formulations that are made with the finest quality of Natural and botanic derived ingredients e.g. Lavender, Caffeine, and Coriander
When I first received this wash in its sample size container, aesthically I was not too impressed. It looked way too simple and uninteresting and I would have relegated it to the depths of my sample drawer but I popped the bottle cap and took a whiff and it smelled absolutely amazing . . and I thought why not.
This product is absolutely amazing, it is refreshing, light, gave off a rich lather and left my skin feeling gorgeous after a wash, which for me is the basis for a good wash. If you are looking for a great and natural derived body wash, I would recommend this but I honestly will not buy this product only because I broke out in an itchy rash like you would NOT believe.
It turns out that I am allergic to certain types of plant proteins and therefore Kiehls products are not my poor skins cup of tea.
In 2 weeks, this body wash has managed to hydrate and itch-itise my skin like you won't believe.
I am actually very disappointed with my body's chemistry at the moment as I was planning to buy the full 500ml product
What about you? Have you ever fallen in love with a product just to find your body doesn't think the same?

Get to Know me: 20 Questions Tag
Hey Dolls and Dragons,
(Yh I don't know why I wrote that either, but It's a bit cute)
I recorded my first video on my new youtube channel Beauty by a Disneyvore
*Wooohoooo*
Honestly the quality is not the greatest because I realised over the Easter weekend that my house is actually super dark with any real natural lighting spots . . .not that the natural light was the greatest to begin with. Anyway here it is and I promise the quality will get better and better and also a tutorial is in the works over the next couple weeks or so.

Mermaidness
Today's look is a bit of a random one, as it is the last look I did before I chopped off my hair, so if you are thinking I thought this chick's hair is gone . . it has . .this is look was just done the day before the big chop.
I've really been racking my brains on what to call this look. I really get an exotic fishie look from this, so I thought instead of calling it 'exotic fishie' *my post title puns are really hitting the bottom of the barrel today* or mermaidness *a mixture of mermaid and randomness* . . . I thought I should go for mermaidness. After all who doesn't like mermaids???

Beauty by a Disneyvore: Confessions
Noone ever takes me seriously when I first tell them I'm a disneyvore. I don't know if it is because they don't think the phenomenon actually exists or maybe they believe it just seems like an elaborate excuse for me to explain my fussy eating habits or maybe it just astounds them just how deep the effects of cartoons can play on a child over imaginative psyche, as I'm not a vegetarian and I kinda would eat anything you give me as long as I didn't have to buy or cook it.
Disneyvore is a term coined exclusively for me by a former colleague of mine to explain my eating behaviours. A disneyvore is basically someone who point-blank refuses to eat any animal that has appeared in a Disney movie or cartoon. So no munching on . . . .
So yes, I do know it is a really weird thing to be and I might just possibly be alone in my plight, but I actually have a very good reason behind this.
When I was a kid (I'm talking about 5/6), I was soooo in love with Disney movies! I just couldn't get enough of them. My favourite by far had to be the Little Mermaid. I love the songs, the characters and even slightly wished I was a mermaid. I was super obsessed with this movie and probably watched it day after day, for months on end. One day, my gran was babysitting me and it was lunch time, now there I was being all angelic sitting on the dinning room table, when she put down a crab in front on me. Now I don't know how my little mind made this connection but I was horrified. My grannie wanted me to eat Sebestian . . .that was practically murder!!!!!
How could she murder my favourite Caribbean-singing friend and expect me to eat his boiled and seasoned remains. It just wasn't right! Needless to say I didn't eat it and spend the rest of the evening balling my eyes out and my poor grannie couldn't figure out what set me off, all she could get of me was 'That's Sebestain' and 'I can't eat Sebestian' and she didn't know who the hell Sebestian was until my mum came home and told her. Anyway from that day, I have been super anti-crab and it turns out after the years ran on, I was anti a lot of other food. I know it's super weird but anytime I think of eating anything like Venison or Crab, I see a little cartoon character on my plate, I literally feel that I am causing a cartoon character IMMENSE pain (yes, I am very empathic) and it makes me feel a bit sick.
Now the reason I have gone into this story (apart from educating you on how weird I am) is to introduce the launch of my Youtube channel 'Beauty by a Disneyvore'. I know I have been putting off doing a channel and all but I have finally pushed myself and VOILA!!!! I am still trying to figure out how to edit the first set of videos (it takes sooooo long!!) so hold tight looool
So check it out and please subscribe.
